Roving Packs of Pissed Off Turkeys

Another news story I've been sitting on, that has quietly amused me for many weeks, is the one about the wild turkeys.

These wild turkeys, see, moved into the north west side of town like a gang of bikers out of  'the Wild One' and like it there.  They're staying.

They've become socialized, and the toms really don't like the mailcarriers. (who does?) The toms believe the mail carriers are trying to steal their women.  They've gotten aggressive about it.

"I tried to fight them off with my ice scraper," said one mail carrier, Wanda June 44, "But there was just too many of them.  And they keep following the truck."

Apparently, when the toms fly headlong into the mail truck, at every stop along the route, the smack they make against the windshield is 'thunderous'.

The mental image of a middle aged female mail carrier trying to fight off a pack of angry wild turkeys with an ice scraper amuses me.  Lots of chaos, gobbling, grunting, and flying feathers.

And then there's the turkeys.
