I look with child-like eyes on the world

a smile, and a "hi" for everyone

who meets my eye,

I share the love, love, love,

of simple attention

and attenuating human grace

of being together.

But sometimes

as I search out through that human pool

I meet eyes

jangled and afraid,

unsettled

almost dangerous in their hyper-tension

and I look away.
