More Policy Questions

Furthurmore, to expound on my previous point, the United States spent something in the range of 1.06 trillion dollars on the SDI program in the eighties.  Without adjusting for inflation, (excuse my negligence, my lack of due dilligence), 1.06 trillion (in 1987 dollars) is larger than the GDP of Canada (in 2002).  Making a rough guess, converting 1987 dollars in my head to 2002 dollars, makes this disbursment of contracts larger than the GDP of the United Kingdom in 2002.

So, what I'm saying is, GWB will be responsible for the equitable disbursment of monies and contracts in amounts larger than many modern westernized countries.  In a brush with naivety, I will ask the implied question, is this dictating policy, rather than policy dictating disbursment?

From a pure profit perspective, from the point of view of the people and corporations that fund the Republicans, and more to the point, fund GWB's campaign, there is no money in stopping North Korea.  Also, there is no real motivation to "catch" Osama Bin Laden.  It is no wonder these things haven't happened.  Given the axiom of American military might, and wealth relative to the rest of the world, finding a six foot six arab who badly needs weekly kidney dialysis should be a snap.  There is no profit potential in sending soldiers to Liberia, either, but after much footdragging, with out losing yet more international credibility or noticeable deviation from an activist policy, soldiers will be sent.  This will be put off as long as possible, however.  There's just no money in it.

Its fair to ask these questions.  There was a major profit potential and motive for invading Iraq, things that sink below the radar of public perception.  Like the six hundred million dollar contract the Haliburton corporation (Dick Cheney's former company, where he sat on the board, and was an executive before the 2000 campaign) got to rebuild the oil infrastructure in Iraq.  Adding six hundred million dollars to the bottom line in any quarter for any corporation is the equivalent of winning the superbowl, world series, stanely cup, and NBA championship all together.  Put another way, things like that just dont HAPPEN.

It sounds paranoiac and conspiracy theorist to say these things, but these questions need be asked by someone somewhere.  One of the things I have learned in life, is the implicit quid pro quo when money changes hands in any form.
