Welcome to the Swamp before/after Othewise, y'know, besides deluded daydreams of sending naked grandma photos to unsuspecting family restaurants, it occurs to me that the US imperialism guided by herr bush might have landed in a quagmire. At the very least, certain regional antipathies towards the US will play into the scenario. Many people have scores to settle for Bush family blunders alone. Jealousies and the chance to stick it to the US may be more than some can resist. Maybe even globally, if one can picture a few states moving in on a land grab(like Turkey attempted), and others that would be willing to sell the Iraqis a batallion's worth of night vision goggles and some stinger s.a.m.'s. (or whatever the russian equivalent is) That would be very bad, and relatively easy to acheive. Those who do not follow history are doomed to repeat it, and our generations will end up paying the price because our frat boy president skipped class and maintained a 'C' average. Not that I feel that the person in charge of the most powerful position on the planet necessarily has to be an academian. But when character is discussed, does doing decades worth of blow...and admitting it, rank as less morally susceptible than smoking pot and not admitting it? Furthurmore, is infidelity worse than a man who is willing to shed innocent blood? In america, evidently, as our puritan sensibilities and lemming like tendencies show themselves like the slip underneath a dress. We live in a country that allows dissent by law, but not by the people. Anyone who attempts to quell dissent on the grounds that it is not patriotic is facist, and needs to read the Bill of Rights. I've never understood the tolerance of violence as opposed to sex. I would much rather see a breast...and have children see a naked breast...rather than see violence. It seems rather simple to me. But not to Herr Bush, nor the reactionary right. We have one foot in the quicksand, and will have to work like hell in front of and behind the scenes to keep it from dragging us all the way into the swamp. In the meantime, enjoy your bread and circuses, middle america. I hear hot or not is on tonight.
