Rules Of Thumb before/after Two rules of thumb: 1) If you have enough money for a deposit and one months rent, you can really move anywhere. 2) If you are travelling abroad, and you have twenty dollars in your pocket, and enough room on a charge card to be able to walk up to the check out counter, slap that bad boy down, and say 'take me home', (presumeably after you paid the indigent cabbie 20 dollars to 'get me to the airport'), then you are okay.
