Morning rituals:

Stumble out of bed down the hallway and feed Boo. He immediately delves into his dish. I then tromp to the bathroom.

Boo leaves his food dish and enters the bathroom, shouldering open the bathroom door if he has to do so. He's a large kitty.

He walks behind me and pauses, watching me pee, looking out for an errant break in the stream so he doesn't get fouled.

Then he jumps to the back of the toilet and looks at me expectantly. I half-heartedly pet him a little bit while I micturate and yawn. If I don't pet him enough, he climbs over to the sink and nibbles on my elbow.

Later, as I'm just about to leave for work, my outdoor kitty, Chairman Meow, finds the porch and starts mewing. She waits expectantly until I get a dish of food for her. She delves into her food with gusto, as if she hasn't eaten in forever, when I had likely just fed her the same amount the night before. She's still a kitten, but eats about twice as much food as my 20lb maine-coon Boo.

Not that Boo couldn't eat that much. His greedy fat ass would eat everything I put down. But no. Boo gets 1/2 of a cup of food a day or he gets orca-fat.

Chairman Meow eats ravenously, then pauses 3/4 of the way through to be petted. She then tries to touch noses with Boo through the glass. He wants nothing to do with it, although he has mellowed out. It only seems to bother him when I pet her and pick her up. He mellowed out after she went belly up for him. Although he still stares, he stare doesn't have that 'searing' quality to it, and sometimes he sits at a distance and acts non-chalant.

Chairman Meow circles me twice and then delves back into the rest of the food. She leaves a little in the dish, which I later throw away.

When Meow is done, sometimes she will scratch the tree next to the porch and rub her head on the porch itself, marking it as her territory, and then walks slowly off to find a place to nap. Occasionally I can call her back and she will be affectionate. Usually, though, its just "I am done. Goodbye.", and she walks deliberately away.

Chairman Meow often makes me late for work, but its ok, as I am the boss. A few times there are people waiting for me at work, but I don't really care. Maybe I should, but I like to think I'm doing something good by alleviating some suffering in the world, and maybe being kind to this little cat will help it have a better life. I have wormed her and gave her this uber-flea repllent stuff that I squirted on her back, and have to do monthly. It kills fleas, ticks, deerticks and other things, as well as repels mosquitos. I believe this makes her a 'super-kitty' as she trolls through the night, endlessly hunting.

Maybe its good for my karma, I don't know.

But this happens more days than not.
