Its not like they're fighting a monster, only a tragedy,

nothing more than civil war

and genocide.  A story,

of un-glory

something as old as time.

Sent there, in harms way,

by our own personal national demon,

devil soaked-oil addiction,

like a monkey on our backs,

a super power pawn in petroleum politics.

We raided a drug dealer's house for drugs

but there are no drugs to be found!

No oil flows to support our gluttonous need,

no more supply for our sanctimonious greed,

Our young men bleed as we capitalists speed,

cruising down endless highways,

in gas guzzlers, built to burn oil

burning lives instead, innocence fled

flamed out the tailpipe

at ninety miles an hour,

while another small town girl

in our midwest world

mourns a small town boy,

his life only more fuel for that engine fire.

The boy is lost, hustled into service by hypocrits and charlatans

more whores than politicians

who hold his sacred sacrifice at no more value

than a used kleenex.

Bring the boys back home!
